Our client is a large packaging company with over a Billion dollars in annual sales and diversified operations in over 34 countries.
The Senior Manager, Controllership will have the primary responsibility for the accounting and internal controls over the a division and will have an impact over building and developing a high-performing segment controllership team. This is a highly visible role with frequent interactions with segment finance liaison, segment business leaders, CAO, and CFO.
What you’ll be doing:
– Lead the business controllership team with a focus on talent management and development.
– Ensure a high-functioning organization with emphasis on expertise, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.
– Assist in developing an optimum operating model for the business controllership teams in conjunction with segment finance team and corporate controllership team.
– Lead the month-end accounting close process and partner with the shared service and Corporate Controllership teams to ensure all transactions are recorded timely and accurately in accordance with US GAAP.
– Analyze and evaluate results as compared to forecast and explain variance in collaboration with the finance team.
– Develop key financial analysis and reports for finance and business leaders’ consumption and decision making.
– Partner with the Technical Accounting team on researching and concluding on complex accounting issues and the implementation of new accounting standards.
– Ensure an efficient and effective internal control environment is maintained, identify control deficiencies, and formulate and implement solutions to address.
– Play a key role in the external audit, internal audits, quarterly reviews, and ongoing controls testing by preparing audit requests and working with the auditors to explain and document various transactions, business process and internal controls.
– Develop a culture of continuous improvement focused on automation and data analytics to shorten the close cycle time, reduce risk and improve decision making.
– Be a visible leader across the broader Controllership and Finance organization, contributing to key operating mechanisms and team engagement initiatives.
– Coach, mentor and develop the team, by taking an active interest in their growth and developing them into our next leaders.
– Ability to work collaboratively across functional teams and at various leadership levels.
We’d love to hear from you if:
– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
– CPA preferred.
– 10+ years of progressive experience and a proven record of leading high functioning diverse teams in related roles, such as corporate accounting and business unit/segment controllership.
– Strong financial, accounting and management skills.
– Strong business acumen and the ability to understand business strategy, and link strategy to accounting implications while being detail oriented.
– Strong understanding and hands on experience of various financial ERP’s.
– Current knowledge of SOX compliance and SEC reporting, US GAAP.
– Effective leadership, mentoring, and talent development skills.
– Strategic thinker capable of translating a vision into tactical execution.
– Experience managing a high performing accounting team.
– Strong verbal and written communication skills.
– Experience working with business partners located internationally.
– Ability to develop, motivate, and influence others.
– Experience with global, matrix organizations.
– Must be able to adjust and work effectively in a dynamic, changing, and collaborative environment.
– Must be willing to travel as needed.
