The Data Solutions Engineer will play a foundational role in evaluating, improving, and maintaining our data infrastructure to support efficient and scalable data processing in a multi-state manufacturing company. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams, including other data team members and business stakeholders, to ensure our data systems drive the business forward, have high availability, and are end-user friendly. This role is critical to establishing, socializing, and implementing our client’s data infrastructure and business processes that will drive organizational, institutional, and marketplace success.
Essential Functions include:
– Responsible for adherence to company policies, including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
– Leads collaboration with executive and director-level stakeholders to understand data requirements and design data models that answer key business questions.
– Assembles and maintains large, complex sets of data that meet nonfunctional and functional business requirements.
– Identifies, designs, and implements internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes.
– Builds required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various data sources using Azure and on-premises SQL technologies.
– Builds analytical tools to utilize the data pipelines, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics, including operational efficiency and financial growth.
– Works with stakeholders, including finance, sales, production, and executive teams, and assists them with data-related technical challenges.
– Works with department leaders to develop and maintain enterprise data management and data governance policies.
– Determines where the infrastructure we should house our data based on the use case and data model.
Knowledge, Education, and Experience:
– A Bachelor of Science degree in computer science or quantitative/analytical fields or equivalent training and experience is required.
– Four to five years of experience in data engineering, data science, data analytics, or other related roles.
– Experience in relational database concepts with a solid knowledge of SQL, Python, DAX, data warehousing, and SCD2 implementation techniques.
– Demonstrated success in generating and maintaining data pipelines from various data sources in collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
– Demonstrable experience/knowledge working with Azure, S3, DBT, Snowflake, Fabric, and ETL Tools, SSIS, SASS tabular, etc.
– Proven track record of experience with best practices for development, including query optimization, version control, code reviews, and documentation.
– Demonstrated knowledge of data structures.
– Curiosity and passion to learn with a strong bias to action.
– Highly effective problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex data-related issues.
– Demonstrably effective interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
