About our client:
Our client serves a workforce of ~150–175 employees. They’re seeking a personable, professional, and knowledgeable IT Manager to lead day-to-day IT operations and guide active technology projects that keep the agency running safely and reliably.
Why this role:
Their much-loved current IT Manager will be there for one more month. They want someone who can start ASAP in November to work alongside them, learn the environment, and ensure a smooth transition. This contract role is onsite five days per week and you’ll be encouraged to apply for the forthcoming full-time posting when it opens in 2026.
What you’ll lead:
– Manage and mentor a team of four: Network Admin, IT Systems Admin, and two IT Support Analysts (helpdesk).
– Own day-to-day IT operations across on-prem servers and SaaS environments.
– Drive delivery on active projects, such as: Website project; Farebox implementation; Advancing cybersecurity review recommendations; Phase 2 of Transit Signal Priority (TSP) project; etc.
– Oversee vendors, budgeting/prioritization, and ticket/incident flow; champion documentation and service quality.
– Collaborate across departments to align technology with public-agency needs and constraints.
Tech environment:
– Google Workspace
– Tyler Munis ERP/time tracking
– Mixed on-prem + SaaS footprint
What they’re looking for:
– Experienced IT leader who is hands-on, calm under pressure, and great with people.
– Proven track record overseeing small IT teams and multi-workstream project delivery.
– Strength in infrastructure/operations, security best practices, vendor management, and helpdesk excellence.
– Background in transportation or smaller public agency settings is a plus (experience from larger orgs is welcome if you understand the realities of lean public-sector teams).
Logistics:
– Contract: 6–12 months
– Work location: Onsite (Salem, OR), 5 days/week
– Parking: Secure, underground parking available for $55/month
– Interview process: 1–2 virtual interviews, possibly followed by an onsite final
